Let’s start with ZAGREB: The largest city in Croatia and its capital. Originally located between Mount Medvednica and the banks of the Sava River. Zagreb was divided into two: Gradec and Kaptol. The former was the area where the nobility lived, known today as the Upper Town. The latter was the territory of the clergy.
Currently, the city’s growth extends beyond the Sava towards the mountains. It is a beauty!
PLITVICE LAKES: Known as the Water Paradise, it has 16 chain lakes, multiple waterfalls, and streams. This area is declared a Natural Park with UNESCO recognition as a reserve since 1979. Charming! Reservations must be made in advance, and you need to know when to go to avoid crowds.
BRAC: The island of Brac is part of the archipelago that surrounds the Croatian coast and is one of the largest islands. With a beautiful town that deserves to be visited for its rich historical heritage, almost entirely built of stone that even served for the construction of the White House in Washington. Movies like “Mamma Mia” were filmed here.
DUBROVNIK: It is a WORLD HERITAGE SITE and one of the most fashionable towns in Europe. In the High Middle Ages (9th century) it was already famous under the name Ragusa. It is nicknamed “The Pearl of the Adriatic,” and no wonder, as “Ragusa” is an architectural and monumental marvel.
And there’s more! A beautiful country.
Until next time.
