It was a three-week trip that led me to enjoy the four states wonderfully. I managed to remember how pleasant it is to travel, walk, delight in the new, wander and explore… and more importantly, how vital it is!

-New Orleans is on the banks of the great Mississippi River. Its Creole cuisine is exquisite, its culture has some Spanish and French influence, and its jazz is simply exquisite. Beautiful parks, pleasant and lively pedestrian areas like “Bourbon Street,” and much history to contribute to the country. By the way, the capital of Louisiana is Baton Rouge.
-Saint Augustine (St. Augustine), the 1st city founded in the USA (1565 by the Spanish). Small, charming, very lively, its historic center remains as it used to be, and its pedestrian “St George Street” is the center of the animation: music, crafts, beautiful clothes, smiles, small green corners. It’s about 310 miles from Miami via the “Turnpike” highway. The capital of Florida is Tallahassee.
-Savannah: About 180 miles from Saint Augustine. What a gem of a place to live! Small, elegant, colonial, clean, on the banks of the river of the same name with charming and small restaurants and cafes, beautiful gardens, and cozy shops.
-Charleston: About 110 to 140 miles depending on the chosen route. It was founded in 1670, and its elegant neighborhoods like the Waterfront Battery or the French Quarter boast their horse-drawn carriages, beautiful houses, and well-preserved streets as they were 2 and 3 centuries ago. It’s a pleasure to stay in those small colonial houses now cozy hotels.
…And now back, dreaming of the next trip!
Until next time.
